What just happened, and what's coming up?

Mezzo-soprano Louise Lofquist of Pepperdine University and Jerome Reed of Lipscomb University premiered my song cycle Folksongs at Lipscomb University on September 10, 2015, 8 PM.

My Syncopations for Orchestra was recently premiered by The Tennessee Governor School for the Arts on June 25 in two performances.  Directed by Steven Ward, this was one of the most enjoyable premiere performances I have ever experienced.

Paul Barnes performed my Monstre sacré  at the Konservatorium Wien on June 18.  He will be coming back to Pepperdine for a performance of his newest project, "The New Etudes of Philip Glass and Music of the Next Generation."  Monstre sacré will be a featured work!  This will be January 19 at Pepperdine, 7:30 PM.  Additionally, Paul's project has been picked up by Philip Glass' recording label, Orange Mountain Music, for distribution!  See paulbarnes.net for more information.

What am I working on?

I have been commissioned to write a new piece for bass trombonist Jonathan Warburton!  Will have this done by the end of the summer. Something zippy and cool for this extraordinary instrument and musician.

Ovecrank, my piece for chamber ensemble, will be arranged for wind ensemble this summer, and will be starting a similar arrangement for wind ensemble.

I am also working on the third setting of text by William Cowper from his poem Jehovah-Rophi. This will complete the three movements in this choral working for mixed voices.  Not sure on the title yet...

More to come!
